My understanding is that Lakeside Field will remain as is, However, I also understand improvements will be made - not sure what all this is. I think they will be constructing a concessions area and bathroom facilities.

In terms of locker and training rooms, I believe the lacrosse/soccer/field hockey teams will be getting their own facilities in the new athletic facility and moving out of Patton Gym.

Anyone confirm this?

Women's LAX looks good. I am glad FLA has been eliminated.

Has anyone noticed that 24/7 has NU's FB recruiting class ranked #11. We are sandwiched between Florida and Ohio State. Lots of things to be excited about.

oh what a night! weather could not have been more perfect. team played like their hair was on fire. seriously fast and tenacious play. Taylor Thornton looked faster than ever. Gabby Flibotte was wonderfully maniacal. Slides 2 is so right, how can Alyssa Leonard be left off that All American ballot, she was magnificent, wonderful draws. the entire team was focused on ground balls. total massive scrums. every player who had the ball went for the goal mouth, like they were intent on moving in quickly for the kill, goal time. it was a tremendous evening. Go 'Cats!!!!!!

And NU played joyfully. Flibotte seemed to relish her role in creating chaos, and there was one comically moment when our player (MacDonald?) bringing the ball upfield was being converged on by three Lions. At full speed she cut sideways, causing 2 of the defenders to run into each other. NU was just faster and more agile.

Anyone know where they will re-locate the woman's lacrosse field when they build the new athletic facility? Hopefully, they do right by the ladies and build them something special.

Lakeside was packed, so 1500+. Free admission for students. A lot of our student-athletes were there supporting NULAX, lots of parents, lots of faculty & staff, and lots of aspiring young LAX players. Great night. And it's impossible to describe how completely our team dominated.

Over the years I have seen Penn State visit Lakeside Field about half a dozen
times and they have never played well. Not once. This was the same team that
gave Northwestern all kinds of trouble in the ALC semis, but this evening they
reverted to the team that withered and died on their previous trip west last
month. NU came out in no particular hurry to score, but they dominated from the
get-go; Penn State barely ever seemed to have possession and when they did they
were dispossessed in short order. Bridget Bianco looked rusty in goal, but maybe
that was because she had very little to do.

I have so often extolled the
virtues of the midfield combo of Alyssa Leonard, Taylor Thornton, and Gabriella
Flibotte that I must sound like a broken record, but once again they were the
force that propelled the 'Cats into such a commanding position. Leonard, who
scored four times, now has 48 points and 122 draw controls for the year, and how
she got left off the IWLCA All-America ballot can only be attributed to a
temporary lapse into mass insanity on the part of the voters. Erin Fitzgerald
got off a two-game scoreless schneid with 3 goals, one on a wraparound (rare for
her) and two on free positions.

The Nittany Lions can look forward to
next season since so many talented players are coming back, but the 'Cats can
look straight ahead to next weekend confident that they are rounding into form
at the right moment.

Cool aside -- I could not attend the game (prior commitment) but here in Chicago I saw a plane fly overhead with a trailing banner reading "Vote Thornton SI.com Athlete of the Year"....hopefully she got a late vote bump!

Mutual respect between NU and Ohio State. Projected top 15-20 recruiting class to Evanston. Preseason top 25 and potential division/B1G contender buzz. Facilities upgrades promising to vault our athletic resources toward the top of those on offer in the conference. Dogs and cats living together! Watch out for Zule!!!

Expecting significantly better than 2012 even w/o Nebraska (remember, we have Ohio State AND Michigan). The STH record for NU is around 20,000 which was after the '96 season. Still amazes me we averaged mid 40s with that low of a STH base. NU doesn't reveal exact numbers, but I'll be interviewing them on this this week. They believe they will set the STH base record at this pace.

Season ticket-holders are now spreading into the Ryan Field corners? If that's true, it must be evidence of a majorly improved STH base. Any sense of the # on that? What was it last year & are they expecting a better '13, despite no Big Red?

Keep in mind that we will be picking up Maryland, which will be the most talent-laden team over the next several years. Assuming we keep home-and-home series with UNC and Syracuse, I'm not sure KAH will be that anxious to keep Florida on the schedule. She may want a tough schedule, but she is also a realist.

I believe the LTP exchange categories need updated. They all say 2012.
